With this exhibit- “Japanese Watercolors of Lana’i," I would like to share that the reason I paint is to express and capture the moments of life. Lana’i has been a beautiful, interesting, and changing island where I have created the opportunity to paint memories for people to remember there special trip or life here on this island. Now that I have been here for almost eight years, I wanted to see the life on Lana’i a little differently. I have decided to expand my work with Japanese Sumi Watercolor. I have used one Japanese brush to create this watercolor series of 25. They are all moments of intricate detail where I have either been driving in my car and saw something that inspired me to paint or from my own experience and inspiration I find when living here. I wanted to create something different and unique. I hope to share with you this new body of work that has been filled with new inspirations and spontaneous captured events.
