Lahaina Pier, Original 16x18 framed, Painting #14

PAINTING #14.. in the Lahaina Strong series.

This piece is from a photo I had taken to paint and I never painted it. It's been so wonderful looking back at my photos and also using the photos some of you have sent me for reference and sharing memories of Lahaina. I grew up in Long Island and some of the beaches, specifically Long Beach has a boardwalk. There is something nostalgic and romantic as you walk on a boardwalk while you are safe from the ocean waves and yet, you still feel the ocean's powerful mana (energy.) This is a similar feeling and painting to painting #3 as many of you loved that piece. This is from a little further back. The barrels instead of actual trash cans, the harbor, the palm trees, the catamaran boats and of course the old buildings of Front Street on the waters edge. Lovely memories to have forever.

I really would like to explain that I had only painted 2 Lahaina paintings in 20 years of my career. It wasn't too often that visitors wanted Lahaina scenes since I am located in Upcountry Maui. I wasn't inspired and it seemed for a reason. I was talking with a client today and I was able to express and explain how special these pieces are in both history, memories, and also in my professional artistic career. This series was originally inspired so that it would be a way for me to give back to the community of the Maui Fire victims and now, it's grown into a connection with all of you for healing and uplifting and commemorating Lahaina. I feel like I have a purpose right now as Maui is grieving. It is a true blessing and I have all of you to thank for that.
